views from A View from the Bridge
In the fall of 2005, the Northeastern University Theatre Department performed Arthur Miller's A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE. The play follows the story of a longshoreman, Eddie (Brian Petersen), who has an unhealthy love for his niece, Catherine (Maggie Racich) and the problems that arise when he can not confront those feelings. Although the play is realistic, the set and lighting design were greatly influenced by Expressionism. The director was Dr. Nancy Kindelan and the designer was Justin Townsend. Both created a playing space that showed the claustrophobic and paranoid ideas about society as well as the alienation and isolation that Eddie feels amongst this society. The following short film is meant to be an imagistic exploration of the play. It was filmed by Nick Crooks and is set to music that was created by Mike Weakley (text by Lisa Martin, Stage Manager)
